Valley of the Sun United Way Collection, 1920-1998.

This collection has no series. Folders are arranged alphabetically. This collection contains records on the background and beginnings of the Valley of the Sun United Way. Of interest is a written history which contains meeting minutes of the Welfare League from 1920. Also included is a photocopy of the early by-laws from the Phoenix Community Chest from 1938-1940.

On October 25, 1925, the Board of Directors of the Welfare League signed a contract with the Community Chest which formed the organization called Community Welfare Council and Community Chest, a forerunner to the Valley of the Sun United Way.
